Overview

The MX-5 Miata is Mazda’s two-seat, rear-wheel-drive convertible sports car that was completely redesigned for the 2006 model year. For the first time, a power retractable hardtop is available for 2007. The third-generation MX-5 Miata features bold fender flares, a large grille, standard 16-inch alloy wheels and dual chrome exhaust pipes for a more aggressive look. The best-selling two-seat roadster in the world, the MX-5 Miata was first introduced in the summer of 1989 and was redesigned for the 1999 model year.

What’s new in 2007?

The 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata adds an available power retractable hardtop that still offers the same amount of trunk capacity—5.3 cubic feet—as when it is equipped with a folding soft-top. With three hinged sections that stack on top of each other when retracted, the power roof stores in the same amount of space the soft-top. The retractable hardtop is made of lightweight materials and the weight increase over the soft-top is only approximately 80 pounds, depending on the trim level. Hardtop versions also receive chrome trim around the grille opening, bright headlight bezels, a chrome band in the door handles and a white-lens center high-mounted stop light.
