Overview

The SL-Class is the fifth-generation of the Mercedes-Benz two-seat roadster that first debuted in 1957. The current version debuted at the Pebble Beach Concourse in 2001 and features a folding hardtop. The SL500 went on sale in the spring of 2002 as a 2003 model, and was joined that fall by the high-performance SL55 AMG. The SL600 joined the lineup for 2004 and the SL65 AMG was added for 2005. For 2007 the SL-Class is restyled with a more aggressive exterior and refined interior.

What’s new in 2007?

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is restyled with a new look highlighted by a more aggressively styled front air dam, new front grille, clear-lens taillights, and chrome-trimmed fog lights. The interior is fitted with redesigned door sills and richer materials throughout, including a different leather grain and new upholstery colors. The hands-free phone system and Sirius satellite radio is now standard, with free service for the first six months. Replacing the SL500, the SL550 is powered by a new-generation 5.5-liter V8 that produces 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. The SL55 AMG is updated with new carbon fiber interior trim, 19-inch five-spoke AMG wheels with high-performance tires, and an engine upgrade with horsepower increasing to 510 and torque to 531 lb-ft. The SL600 also receives a power upgrade to 510 and 612 lb-ft of torque. A 50th Anniversary Edition of the SL550 roadster is being offered to honor the very first 300SL roadster. Only 550 of these will be produced.
